After spending the majority of 2020 on lockdown, many of us are ready to get out and about and be seen. The good times are calling our names. With this in mind, we’ve created a list of some of the upcoming fashion trends of 2021. The beautiful thing about style is that everyone has their own. Check out these top pics and integrate what fits with you.

1. The Bralette

The bralette is here to stay. They showed up circa 2014 in the form under the name of "bandos" and have continued to evolve ever since. The good news they come in all different colors, shapes, and styles. As such a small piece of the outfit, bralettes make a look 10x more interesting. There are many different ways to style them: wear them as a top, under a blazer or jacket, beneath a sheer top to add pazazz, even over a blouse. Bralettes have that futuristic fashionista look, and one can assume that’s why they’ve been around for so long.

2. Exaggerated Shoulders

An older trend that’s come back to take its second trip around the sun. Oversized shoulder pads were all the rage in the 80s with pop icons like Madonna sporting them with big hair and little dresses. In 2021 the boyfriend jacket is back, but it's not alone. Exaggerated shoulders can be found on blouses, jackets, dresses, and more. These can be styled with a straight leg pant or a pair of shorts.

3. Wide-legged Trousers

This trend is straight off the runway. Wide-legged pants have slowly been making their way back into style. We’ve seen this trend in past decades both in the 70s and the 90s. At this point, they are a fashion staple. Wide-legged trousers provide a slimming effect on the waist. They are best paired with simplistic tops such as a fitted blouse or turtleneck. They also go well with longer coats and jackets, allowing you to create somewhat of a silhouette effect underneath.

4. Khakis?

Khaki is the new alternative denim. As we head into spring, the light look of khaki-colored clothes can brighten up your closet. Whether it be khaki wide-legged trousers, a khaki skirt, or even a khaki jacket. The cool thing about khaki is that it's really easy to style up or down depending on how you wear it. With brunch season approaching, it might be a good idea to stock up on your khakis.

5. Headscarves

They’re not just for bad hair days, but they sure can come in handy then too. Every woman deserves a good scarf collection. Not only are they great head ornamentation, but they can be accessorized in multiple ways like tied to your bag or around your wrist. There are so many ways to wear a headscarf. For those unsure of how to wear a headscarf, think First Lady, Jackie Kennedy, and how she and the women of that era wore their scarves, and their sunglasses and it was a total mood. Add some fancy flavor to your style with a headscarf.

6. The Oversized Shirt

The cool thing about women’s fashion is the willingness to hijack men’s fashion while simultaneously wearing their styles better than them. The over-sized button-down can be dressed up or down and styled in so many different ways. Wear it with a skirt of any length. Try putting a corset or bralette on top. Wear it open over a tank or a dress perhaps. The possibilities are endless with this one.

7. Patterned Over Coats

Coats, jackets, and outerwear in general are the new go-to accessory. Long overcoats are yet another trend that has made their way back to the runways and centerfolds, but this time in a much bolder fashion. Some refer to them as folk prints, but the new wave of overcoats are patterned and eye-catching. They make a great compliment over a simple duo of jeans and solid colored top, dresses, or a skirt and blouse combo. The coats also look phenomenal over wide-leg trousers.

8. Floral Patterns

This isn’t your grandmother’s small-print floral blouse. Bold, bright, and sometimes neon-colored florals are making their way into 2021. Every few years designers reintroduce florals, generally, most of us pass. The Spring ’21 collections differ because it goes beyond the typical pastels and introduced them in a somewhat reimagined way. Go feminine, go bold, go flora this spring.

9. Puffy Sleeves

On a dress, on a sweater, on a jacket - it’s in the puff. The puff trend has grown over the last few years and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. With romantic roots, puff sleeves offer an ever romantic look. However, depending on the piece, puffed sleeves can be styled in so many different ways.

10. The Facemask

Last but certainly not least, we’d be remiss not to mention the facemask. This time last year most people didn’t even own one, and they were so scarce for a time, having a mask to go with your look was not even a thought. Today, they can be found in any color, character, print, or design. Have an assortment to switch up and wear ones that match your outfit. Masks are the new subtle accessory.

Style is personal to the individual, which is what makes it so cool. The way we dress allows us to express ourselves and who we are and feel cute and cool while doing it. This list features a little something for everybody, no matter your style. Incorporate these 2021 trends into your closet and tag us in your pics when you hit the town and glam out!
