Happy New Year!
It is 2K19 and you are determined that this is your year to get married, or lose weight or be successful. To quote Kanye circa 2012-ish, but how Sway? You want God to prosper you but are you good soil? Do you create an environment that allows seeds to flourish? You want good friends but you gossip and don’t care to engage with others unless it benefits yourself. You want to get married but you don’t make the effort to look presentable and roll your eyes at every man that approaches you. Or maybe you try waaaaay too hard and don’t give men a chance to pursue you. You want to be happier but you watch trash tv and fill your body with junk food. God loves His children. No doubt. His favor isn’t t merit-based but we do need to do our part. Faith plus works.
For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.
The work may not be easy or fun or what you’re used to, but in order to get something different, sometimes you need to do something different.
So often our disappointment is self-inflicted, and we don’t even realize it.
God is good always. There’s definitely levels to His delays. It could be timing or attitude. Be expectant, but be willing. Get your Peter on. Allow God to change your identity to make you better.
"He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, You are Simon the son of John. You shall be called Cephas (which means Peter)."
Believe, seek and believe again. That's my new approach. I believe God will answer my prayers so I seek Him for guidance on what I should do then believe what He is telling me is the right thing, even if it is something I don't want to do.
My intention is not to come off callous, but because I have been in the position of wanting something SO BAD. I can relate and feel a responsibility to share what I have learned. As I was preparing for trying to get pregnant, again I realized I needed to stop eating like an unsupervised child in a candy store. (slightly exaggerating) Do I want to give up the foods I love? No way! Do I need to? You already know the answer. Sometimes the only thing between you and what you desire is a yes. Yes to openness and change. I encourage everyone to connect with themselves via God in a new way. Open yourselves up to the journey He wants to take you on in order to reach your destination.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
If there is any change that God wants to occur in our lives we have to trust that it for our good. He only wants what's best for us, even if we don't see it now. Don't be afraid of freshness. Go be great!
